Justin J. Watt Foundation

The Justin J. Watt Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps reach middle schools with insufficient funding for after-school programs. This foundation was started by NFL Defensive Player of the Year, JJ Watt.

This program helps build, or start, after-school programs for middle schools, which ultimately helps the students build team work, and try new things. According to the foundation’s website, “Providing these opportunities for children in the community will not only give them a safe, supervised, and structured setting in which to spend time after school, but it will also teach the children how to work together within the context of a team, how to persevere in the face of adversity, and that hardworking is the best path to success in any situation.” To date, the foundation has donated over 6.8 million dollars to schools in need.

In addition, following Hurricane Harvey in 2017, the foundation has helped repair and rebuild over 600 homes and over 400 childcare centers and after school programs. The also distributed necessary medicine to over 10,000 patients and physical and mental health services to over 6,000 people. Finally, in their efforts to help following the devastating hurricane, the Justin J. Watt Foundation helped give out over 26,000,000 meals to those who needed them most.
